This master thesis explores the application of digital fabrication methods in the field of ceramics and examines the intersection of craft and technology.

In a case study digital tools were used as an integral part of the design process, showing a different way of using these tools creatively. In an iterative process a robotic fabrication method was created that is capable of turning asymmetric objects on a plaster turning wheel as well as adding a range of textures to these objects. Lastly a comparison between manual and robotic fabrication was conducted by tasking a skilled craftsperson to create asymmetric objects and texture with their own methods.

In dieser Arbeit wurde die Verwendung von digitalen Fertigungstechnik untersucht in der Keramik an der Schnittstelle von Handwerk und Design untersucht. In einem iterativen Arbeitsprozess wurde nach neuen, sinnvollen und kreativen Einsatzmöglichkeiten der neuen Technologien geforscht. Entstanden ist ein System, welches es möglich macht mithilfe eines kollaborativen Roboters asymmetrische Gipsobjekte mit Relief an einer Drehscheibe zu drehen. In einem weiteren Schritt wurde der digitale Prozess mit dem einer Handwerkerin gegenübergestellt um die Thematik vollumfänglich begreifen und neue Definition finden zu können.
