An ode to Salvador Gonzales Esalana

Bachelorkollektion von Juliane Kaatzsch

„My collection is an ode to the afro-cuban artist Salvador Gonzales Esalana, a man who dedicated his entire life to painting, but not on canvas, but on the half-destroyed wall in a dirty little street in Havanna, Cuba. ...

The place has become an unique open air museum demonstrating afro - cuban culture, art and spirituality...

Being deeply impressed by the work of the artist and the atmosphere, energy, colours and spirit of that place, I wanted  to incorporate all of that into my designs. ...

Furthermore an important part of this project was to maintain a sense of environmental awareness using only organic fabrics, second hand leather, as well as plant and environmentally friendly dyed fabrics, also in order to demonstrate that colours and eco awareness can be combined.“
