On tuesday, 7 June 2022, 6 pm, we welcome performance-artist Monster Chetwynd as our guest at the BURG.

MONSTER CHETWYND, 1973, is a British Turner Prize–nominated artist, known for reworkings of iconic moments from cultural history in improvised performances, bottled mayhem and unbridled enthusiasm. She is passionate and romantic about local history and excited about nonsense. Monster is tenacious, engulfing, positive and deeply manipulative and thoroughly opportunistic. It's a relief to know Monster is hell bent on fun and things that are funny!
Her recent solo projects include Monster Loves Bats, Konsthall C, Stockholm; Free Energy (The Life of Nikola Tesla), Studio Voltaire, London; Tears, Messeplatz Art Basel, Basel (all 2021); Toxic Pillows, De Pont, Tilburg, The Netherlands; Vision Verticale part of Day Tripper, Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea, England; Monster Rebellion, Villa Arson, Nice; Hell Mouth 3, Eastside Projects, Birmingham, England (all 2019); Winter Commission (commission), Tate Britain, London (2018).

The talk with Monster Chetwynd will take place in room 103/104 at the Villa. However, the talk will be digital, but with a live audience. The artist will be beamed that evening and will also be able to see the audience, so both sides can communicate with each other.
