Changing to the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle
Thank you for your interest in BURG! In the case of a planned change of university before completion of the basic studies or the 4th semester, the entrance examination must usually be passed.
Students who have successfully completed the intermediate examinations or the intermediate diploma in a comparable course of study in the field of art at a German art academy or university should first contact the university professor in question. Arrangements will be made individually.
For your application you should have the following documents
- a portfolio showing your previous course work
- transcript or grade transcript showing the work you have done so far
- Letter of motivation (maximum 1 page) explaining why you want to continue your studies at our university

The applicant portal will be activated at the beginning of October.
Registration and application for the entrance examination Winter Semester 2023/24 Bachelor, Diplom, Staatsexamen
December 1, 2022 to March 10, 2023, each 12.00 p.m.
Online registration for the entrance examination Bachelor, Diplom, Staatsexamen
The applicant portal will be activated on December 1, 2022, 12.00 p.m.

April 1 to May 15, 2023 (4 p.m.) - Registration
Online registration for the Master for external applicants
The applicant portal will be activated in April.
