Knick - Josephine Hartmann
Knick is a staple-free stapler that binds paper without metal staples. The project began with the analysis and redesign of an existing mechanism, aiming to reduce its structure to the essentials. By simplifying the design, the number of components was significantly reduced without compromising functionality.
A transparent crystal glass housing makes the mechanism visible, so users can watch the stapling process directly. The glass also acts as a counterweight, giving the product a clean, high-quality look and a sense of solidity on the table.
The main components can be easily taken apart and put back together, making the product easy to repair if something ever needs replacing. knick combines a minimalist design with a clear visual language, turning a mechanism that is usually hidden into a visible part of the product itself, inviting anyone who uses it up to see exactly how it works.
