Punto - Elena Messnarz, Marietta Szydlik
What if you had a piece of furniture that could be assembled quickly and easily, without lengthy instructions, individual parts, or tools?
This project explores the possibility of integrating all the necessary functional elements for assembly directly into the furniture panels. The central manufacturing tool is the CNC milling machine, which creates precisely fitting connecting elements directly from the panel material itself. Notches at the edge of the wood, ending in a circular shape, provide flexibility in the side panel, allowing it to be easily clamped to the base and top panels.
“Punto” is a birch plywood bookshelf that showcases this clamping system. The accompanying “Punto ring” serves as a distinguishing feature, signifying the product family's cohesion. Available in a choice of accent colors, it personalizes the shelf and, as the final assembly step, adds the finishing touch.
