ROTATED RESIDENCES

new houses for wild bees

In the man-made world, wild bees are increasingly suppressed and find it difficult to find suitable habitats. We therefore gave them back their beeswax (okay – it comes from honey bees) and developed comfortable wax shelters in rotational moulding for a relaxed life in urban and agricultural areas.
In the first week, everyone learned about rotational moulding and deep drawing (typical plastic technologies) as technologies for making houses from wax and then designed and rotated their own dwellings.
In the second week the students had to find a way to rotate without machines. For this purpose, existing rotational forces in everyday life, i.e. natural, human or mechanical forces, were used parasitically to rotation mould the objects.
