Funghi Funghi
Mycelium as a textile material
FUNGHI FUNGHI continues the semester project FUNGHI. From six different fungi mycelium cultures ganoderma lucidum stands out because of its very dense mycelium to narrate a textile process of material experiments. The hyphae grow over celluse fabrics, permeate fibers, attack synthetic fibers, grow independent structures and forms, shrivel when drying and get rehydrated, ironed, pressed, post-processed. This project represents the beginning of working with mycelium as a water repellent textile coating and tries to find ecological solutions for protective refinement in textiles and fashion.
