Homework: Internships & Interviews

In preparation for the project, the students each completed an internship in a shoemaking workshop. For one week, they were able to learn about the practical side of shoemaking by looking over the shoemaker’s shoulder and talking to the expert. In addition to gaining valuable know-how, the students also collected practical experience in leather processing, repairing shoes and making customised parts at the ‘Maßschuhwerkstätte Sascha Halm’, the ‘Fußgänger’ shoemaker’s workshop and at the ’Schuhwerkstatt-Kiel’ with orthopaedic shoemaker Claus Hochheim.
Furthermore, they interviewed the designers Lukas Hartz, Vera Vogelsanger, Henriette Wagener and Emilie Burfeind about their creative practice in footwear design.
