Pick the cobblestone
a machine for plants instead of stones
Why do we buy clothes with a worn look while throwing away genuine, worn items? What does this say about how we treat clothing and our consumer behaviour? Isn’t it time we saw repaired items as trendy – instead of artificially damaged ones – and recognised signs of wear as a sign of value and sustainability? This question gave rise to RePatch – a station where new garments are first brutally destroyed and then repaired with patches. The resulting tear is deliberately not completely covered up, but highlighted and decorated. This makes each repair unique. RePatch is both criticism and creation: an invitation to rethink fashion and our behaviour, and an attempt to restore dignity to repaired items.
