Verdant
Bowl for bio-waste
by Juliana Kimlicková
I want to recycle! This topic may sound like a well-worn record, but I think it's still important to think about it and recycle properly. I would like to provide the user with a ceramic bowl for bio-waste. To give them the aesthetic pleasure of using this bowl, even though there may seem to be a big contrast between the perception of the bowl and the idea of bio-waste. I want to help to make the sorting of bio-waste aesthetically pleasing and to make us feel good about it.
Recycling of bio-waste in cities is already mandatory. Therefore, I want to focus on the user in the urban environment. I would like my bowl design to beautify a corner of his home, i.e. his kitchen corner.
Verdant is an irregularly shaped bowl with a larger round lid, it functions as a cover and also as a handle. I also experimented with a new technique for me, I worked with paper clay. I used paper clay technique because it seems to be associated with recycling and can create a unique texture on the surface. I used the paper clay technique only partially for the decorative parts. I mixed paper with porcelain. I used different proportions of paper and porcelain.
What kind of bin do you put your bio-waste in?
