CoNTACT ways of distance & touch
As the second exhibition of Frontviews, CoNTACT not only brings the new art venue HAUNT further to life but also the art and cultural scene of Berlin, in times of uncertainty and after a cultural silence.
CoNTACT brings together six artistic positions that deal with physicality in their works and work with the artistic means of expression of performance. Using their bodies and genres of visual art such as drawing, painting, video, and sculpture, the artists take up physical phenomena such as language, the senses, memories, and pregnancy. With their works, they convey alternative ways of touching, in a time that is characterized by physical distance. In addition to the artistic content, the title CoNTACT also deciphers the thematic reference of the exhibition to the period of the threat of a COVID 19 pandemic and the precautions taken in this context. The exhibition takes up the incisive events, such as social distance and isolation through quarantine, distance rules, and face masks, and addresses the effects on our individual and social everyday life as well as on our bodies. With the selection of exhibits and the accompanying program, CoNTACT offers a platform for an active dialogue between art, artists, and visitors and asks for ways of dealing with the experiences during Corona. In addition to the performance events every Saturday, the exhibition house, the so-called "Pavilion", will permanently display works of art that were created before and during the Corona period, and can thus be seen for the first time and during opening hours.
HAUNT's spacious and openly designed rooms allow us to bring the public back into physical contact with art. Hygienic regulations and safety distances can be maintained and also by an additional entrance control. In addition, the exhibition and event content is made accessible to a wider audience via the Instagram social media platform and in a podcast. We are looking forward to seeing you!
For the events of the supporting program, we kindly ask you to register in time via office@frontviews.de. At the entrance, we ask for a donation between 5-15 Euro, which will be given directly to the artists.
