Workshop on Circular Services

28./29.10.2024 with Peter Post

In a workshop format, we developed a service concept for our respective product within two days. In an introductory presentation, Peter Post, UX and service design consultant, specialist in the field of service design for circular economy, gave us insights into various market strategies and introduced us to working with the UX design patterns for the circular economy. These method cards developed by him provide an overview of the various market strategies in app format and can be used to generate ideas. In later prototyping, these can either be used in analog form or configured digitally as an app flow in order to present the flow of services and user experience. Using worksheets with ready-made graphics and work fields to help us, we categorized the fact and processes of the specific services. Post-its helped us to rearrange the various aspects again and again. In the ideation process, we first formulated the needs of our target group and examined the various points at which our product(s) or parts of them would come back into the cycle. The concrete classification of the benefits for the various stakeholders of the service provided for configuring, describing and ultimately formulating the service promise. In the following “Circular Service Design Sprint”, we further formulated the cycle with various linking points, prioritized goals and finally created a service map. This shows the user experience from the point of first contact to the end of the service. Actions and touchpoints at each step helped us to think through our planned services further and identify potential difficulties at an ear stage. In personal discussions with Peter Post, we had the opportunity to ask specific questions, communicate ideas and gather input. The workshop concluded with a short presentation of the resulting service concepts followed by feedback from the group. It was useful to get an economic perspective on our concepts and to think through scenarios theoretically.
