Mobile mounting system for solar panels

The ‘sunny_01’ is a mobile mounting system for solar panels and is designed for larger balconies, rooftops, or gardens. As there is no official standard for PV modules that defines their size and dimensions, the measurements can vary depending on the manufacturer and change regularly. Thanks to a size adjustment mechanism (see Image 2), the length and width of the extensions can be flexibly adjusted so that it is suitable for different module sizes. The mount has four wheels for easy movement, allowing you to choose where you want to set it up. The individual components are bolted together, making the mount easy to take apart when moving house. This means you are not limited to fixed mountings on the building facade.

A major disadvantage of existing balcony power plants is the lack of suitable mounting options. At the moment, there are hardly any market-ready products that allow solar panels to be installed easily, safely, and independently on balconies. As a result, many users rely on homemade constructions that are attached to balconies, house façades, or railings. However, these improvised solutions involve a significant risk of accidents. This often discourages both landlords and tenants from making use of the potential of solar energy on their own balconies. In many cases, installing solar panels safely and at an optimal angle requires major changes to the existing building structure, which further increases the barrier.
Our design addresses this issue directly by making suitable areas more accessible for solar power. With the help of a mobile stand, areas with sufficient floor space can be equipped with solar panels without causing any permanent damage to the building. The selected photovoltaic module can easily be mounted on the stand. The result is a flexible, safe and user-friendly solution for solar energy use. The mounting system can be easily moved using four wheels. A brake on each wheel secures the object against rolling away. This makes it possible to park the stand system temporarily or permanently. Additional, the space on a balcony or terrace can be arranged easily and flexibly.

Heavy stones with handles that can be placed in a net between the legs, are used as counterweights. Since there are no standards for the length and width of photovoltaic modules in manufacturing, the panels are adapted to research standards. In most cases, the aim is to generate as much efficiency as possible on a small surface. The modules constantly change size, which makes it difficult to standardise mounting products. In addition, handling the modules is becoming even more difficult. Length-adjustable extensions allow the system to be adapted to different module sizes. Round tubes with slotted holes are used for this purpose, allowing for continuous adjustment. This means that solar modules of various sizes can be mounted on the solar stand. The angle of the panel is fixed at 35 degrees, which is the perfect angle for solar panels. The stand is bolted together and can be taken apart into single parts. The four main tubes are connected using connectors with screw threads. A single handle is used for manual handling and can also be used for cable management. Thanks to the system‘s simple setup and dismantling, the stand and solar panel can be moved and placed in a new location when moving to a new place.
