Kopfstücke

Kopfstücke explores the many ways one can achieve volume and structure within knitted fabrics.

I focused on one area of the body - the head and took my inspiration from costume design for movies, science fiction characters, political figures, mythology and the work of Alexander Mcqueen, Erwin Wurm, Isey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo among others.
My goal was to discover fabrics that stand, melt, dissolve, disappear or transform when manipulated with heat. Conceptually the pieces are thought to hide, obstruct or ‘melt’ parts of the head, the face or the neck.
