E-mail, Internet access, computer use

Upon enrolment, every student receives an “Application and documented instructions regarding use of IT Services’ computer systems at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle” (example here, available only in German). The top part of this is to be signed and handed in to the secretary’s office at IT Services. The bottom part is given to the student and contains access data for the student’s Burg e-mail, for WLAN access and for logging in on the PC pools. This should be stored carefully for future reference.

We provide this installation program for download that can be used to set up university WLAN access (Name: “Burgnetz”) on Microsoft Windows. The access data mentioned above is to be entered when you are asked for your username and password.
