HEAVY BOWL

Sound bowl with different levels and rhythms

Heavy Bowl is a sound object cast in bronze. The bowl is divided into three levels.

A ball is set in motion by swinging the bowl so that it circles on it. By purposefully placed elevations in the casting, different tones and rhythms are created while circling.

The playful task of moving the ball to the different levels improves coordination skills. The player is rewarded in the form of auditory feedback.

Based on a technical drawing we have generated metal templates. These were used to shape our plaster models. Finally, we embedded our models in moulding boxes and created our sand casting mould.
