Das Buch dokumentiert die Suche nach etwas Handfestem im Digitalen. Auf jeder Seite finden wir eigenartige Formen – Puzzleteile, die sich nach und nach als Komponenten eines digitalen Geräts herausstellen. Doch auch als solche erkannt, bleibt ihre Funktion unbegreiflich. Durch ein Transparentpapier fotografiert, verlieren sie ihre scharfen Konturen; das mit Wachs behandelte Papier übersetzt diese Unschärfe ins Haptische. Gerahmt wird der wuchtige Buchblock – der zwei Vorder-, aber keine Rückseite (und somit auch kein eindeutiges Oben und Unten) hat – von zwei kurzen Texten, in denen Alina und Tore uns wissen lassen, dass es sich um Teile eines Handys handelt. Und dass diese Tuchfühlung mit den digitalen Dingen mehr Fragen aufwirft, als sie beantwortet.

This book documents a pursuit of something tangible within the digital realm. On each page we encounter peculiar shapes: puzzle pieces that gradually reveal themselves to be components of a digital device. Yet even once recognised as such, their function remains elusive. Photographed through a sheet of transparent paper, their sharp edges blur; the wax-treated paper translates this effect into touch. Flanking the hefty book block – which has two front covers but no back (and thus no clear top or bottom) – are two short texts in which Alina and Tore give away that the components stem from a mobile phone. And that this intimate and bodily contact with the materiality underlying and sustaining the digital raises more questions than it answers.
