In my project, I worked with ways and repetition, exploring city infrastructure,
mobility, movement, transportation. The project started with the observation that I like to take the same ways when driving or walking towards a destination. And in the light of me living in Berlin and studying in Halle, it was an excellent opportunity to explore what “being on the way” means, especially in connection to rhythm, time, synchronisation, public transportation.
I used knitting as my main technique, mostly because knitting is really part of my
every day. I have been a knitter for quite a long time and this was an opportunity to discover something about the technique that perhaps I was overlooking. For me, it was the basic machine knitting technique, left and right knitting. I worked with a combination of stiff and soft materials, exploring volume and trying to create three-dimensional materials that will slightly change their shape when someone interacts with them.
