Exkursion to Theresa Schubert
24.03.2025, Berlin (DE)
We had the great opportunity to visit the artist Dr. Theresa Schubert in her studio in Berlin. She operates within an aesthetic that blends biology and science f iction, questioning anthropocentrism with her interdisciplinary works. Her techno-organic installations combine art, science, and living organisms, offering new perspectives on the relationship between humans, technology, and nature. Theresa Schubert holds a PhD in Media Art from Bauhaus-University Weimar and works as an artist, researcher, and curator. 11 Her works include hybrid media, immersive installations, and experiments with artificial intelligence, 3D laser scanning, and organic materials such as fungi and bacteria. She is particularly interested in collaborating with non-human entities and the dissolution of boundaries between nature and culture in the digital age. During our studio visit, we gained fascinating insights into her current projects, including experimental biotechnologies and the artistic exploration of microbial processes. What was especially captivating was her approach to integrating living systems as creative co creators in her artworks.
