CO+SESSION 2026

Review CO+SESSION 2026

The CO+SESSION was a five day programme around the yearly topic of BURG of that academic year – “cohabitation and collaboration”. Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their time and knowledges.

Through workshops, lectures, inputs, and an excursion we did a deep-dive into what cohabitation means within our arts and design practices as well as in arts education and the institution of an art school. The programme was open for everyone – students and staff, administration and researchers.

With guests like Changing Cities, Animal Aided Design, HAEMD, Transsolar, Losmachen e.V., Klasse Klima, Symbiotic Lab, Peißnitzhaus e.V., Floating University, Nur Horsanalı, and Organismendemokratie we had a wide range of perspectives. We learned how we can grow and learn from slime mould, how we can integrate weeds in design processes, what a superblock is or what different ways of power generation could be possible at BURG. We learned about how to self-organize within students and run your own seminars, addressing climate crises within arts education. How we can make a river or other ecosystems a legal entity, and we learned about who we are sharing the design campus with.

On Friday, we visited Floating University and got a tour around the site as well as insides of the work of the project. Nur Horsanali from KABK explained the term of the pluriverse and connected it with their own practice. Berlin-based project Organismendemokratie shared their method with us and let us train to represent a different species – from racoon to ivy-leaved toadflax.

The programme took place 28.09.–02.10.2026.
