“Similar to flotsam that has drifted in the ocean for a long time, the slide now basks in its rarity, randomness, rediscovery, and mystery.” (from the written thesis “Die von der Zeit umhüllten Bilder” [Images Enveloped by Time], p. 29). Using photographic finds, ranging from an old box full of slides from the family estate to historical portrait albums from the century before last and photo albums from more recent times, Marie Busse embarks on a journey through the history of photography. She is accompanied by questions about temporality raised by the photographic images, which lead to an inevitable confrontation with the finiteness of life.
