AGAR TAPE SEASONING

China consumes 38.520 million instant noodle dishes every year. Most of the wrappers are buried after using. But China has now a lack of land to bury rubbish. Hence, some propose burning. But it will escalate the air pollution. Therefore, it is about time that China replaces the current wrappers with degradable wrapping materials.

I propose a sustainable and environmentally friendly wrapping material for instant noodles utilising agar, which can be extracted from red algae.

The Agar Seasoning Tape integrates noodle seasoning within agar in a freeze-dried state. A special perforation allows perfect portioning. When heated to 90 degrees in water the agar tape fully dissolves without any aftertaste and releases the seasoning to the noodles. The noodles are packed in standard cardboard packaging.
