The course establishes strong connections between materials and design and encourages students, over the long term, to make highly targeted material selections or to approach their design work by starting with the material and its specific properties.

Fundamentals and specialized knowledge of textile raw materials, as well as their cultural and historical context and their ecological, economic, and social impact.

The module is also recommended for students in the Industrial Design and Fashion programs.
