SELF-GROWING SOLAR CELLS

Experiments on biologizing dye-sensitized solar cells

What if dye-sensitized solar cells consisted of living and self-growing layers, enabling longer stability within the solar cell through self-reproduction?
These material experiments represent an explorative approach towards this goal. Materials synthesized by microorganisms are meant to keep the use of energy and resources low, while using environmentally harmless raw materials. The self-growing layers allow covering also structured surfaces such as wood for producing photovoltaic building material. This kind of solar cell is not intended to be the most efficient, but it allows a usage high in quantity.
