Salat trifft Schale und Besteck
Methodische Gestaltungsübung Entwurfsprojekt 2.Studienjahr WiSe 2021/22

Auf die Mischung kommt es an! Salat finden wir in nahezu jeder Kultur der Welt. Wir kennen ihn vor allem als Amuse-Geule, fruchtige Nachspeise oder herzhaft sättigendes Hauptgericht wie den – durchaus identitätsstiftenden – Kartoffelsalat.
»Salat« beschreibt in unserem Wortverständnis ein Chaos. Denn eines haben alle Salate gemein: das Mischen. Um die Zutaten zu benetzen, zu schwenken und wild durcheinander zu heben, benötigen wir stets ein Behältnis und ein Werkzeug. Diesen beiden Objekten widmete sich das Entwurfsprojekt »Mix and Match«.
Entstanden sind fünf unterschiedlich gestaltete Angebote für den Salatgenuss. Sie bestehen jeweils aus einem Set von einer großen Servierschüssel und einer kleinen Anrichteschale als formale Geschwister sowie einem Werkzeug zum Vermengen und Verteilen.

Salad meets bowl and cutlery

It’s all in the mix! Salads are a part of nearly every food culture around the world. We encounter them primarily as an amuse-bouche, fruity dessert or – as is the case with potato salad, a dish deeply rooted in our cultural identity – a hearty and satiating main.
The word ‘salad’ inherently implies a sense of chaos in our linguistic framework. All salads have one thing in common—they are a mix of something. We always need a container and tool to coat, toss, and randomly combine the ingredients. Mix and Match thus pursued these two particular objects.
Five truly unique designs for salad indulgence emerged. Each visually coherent set comprised one large and one small serving bowl as well as a tool for tossing and serving.
