Annual topic 2026/2027

CO+

We are happy to announce the annual topic for 2026/2027*: Cohabitation and Collaboration is an invitation to collectively work towards social-ecological transformations at BURG.

Cohabitation and Collaboration asks “how”: How are we living (coinhabiting) and working (collaborating) together? And how do we want to live and work together in the future? More specifically, we want to focus on the needs of ecosystems and other species and shift away from a human-centered perspective when talking about sustainability. For example, how can collaborative modes of working foster sustainability? With whom are we sharing the campus and the city? Where do we encounter the more-than-human within the arts? Or how could we make the BURG more resilient?

Over one year we want to experiment and see how transformation efforts in teaching and workshops, art and design, administration and library, on campus and beyond could unfold in practice. We are inviting everyone within the school to collectively develop projects, ideas, or measures, which we will actively support to bring them into action. This can be anything from a collective initiative towards more biodiversity on campus to a semester project connected to the topic of cohabitation, to an artistic perspective on the more-than-human, to the appointment of a speaker of the living for the BURG.

We are happy to receive questions, ideas, or projects that you would like to share via provisorium@burg-halle.de and are looking forward to working together!

CO+SESSION

On October 1.–2. we will offer a deep-dive into the topic of cohabitation and collaboration as part of the festival »CO+SESSION«, made up of lectures, workshops, and excursions. The programme is open to everyone and will be announced soon!
