Marco Dirr’s photographs draws viewers into the process of reflection and contemplation, through analog transformations of color and material the images question the ways in which we perceive and interpret the world around us. The visual language, both poetic and performative, challenges traditional systems of order and hierarchy, while inviting viewers to reconsider what reality could be. His aesthetic draws on observations of nature and contemporary portraiture, and is characterized by a pronounced sense of experimentation with analog and digital techniques in the darkroom.
