Information on handling the corona virus at the BURG

Courses in the summer semester are mainly digital. Events are cancelled until the end of June 2020.

Due to the decree of the state of Saxony-Anhalt on the corona virus, the courses at the BURG will be hold mainly digitally. Presence teaching can be implemented from 20 May 2020 in exceptional cases and only if not digitally possible. The prerequisite is compliance with a concept for hygiene and occupational safety regulations agreed with the Chancellor of the BURG (as of 29 May 2020).

Events and excursions
All events such as exhibition openings, conferences or discussion rounds at the BURG that are not prescribed by the curriculum are cancelled up to and including 30 June 2020.

Access to the education sites and institutions
The BURG properties are currently being gradually reopened to students. From Monday to Friday between 7.30 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. students are allowed access for attending courses which are exceptionally held in class, for collecting personal belongings and materials, and for visiting the library. Public access is still prohibited until further notice.

Until further notice, access to the university printing office, studios, specialist workshops and the central workshops of the BURG for the public or students is restricted. Individual arrangements have been made for diploma and master graduates.

Employees are allowed to come (unless home office regulations have been voted) to carry out their work at the BURG. Student assistants may also enter the premises as part of their work.

The Study Information Centre makes appointments for personal office hours on site, for which registration is required in advance.

The library is open to students, staff and lecturers of the BURG with limited operation from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The Burg Gallery has been opened since Monday, 18 May 2020, in compliance with the safety and hygiene measures required by the Corona pandemic

Access to the properties is generally excluded if

  • you notice symptoms of COVID-19 disease or any respiratory or cold symptoms (no matter how severe),
  • you are ill with COVID-19,
  • you have returned from abroad within the last 14 days
  • you have had contact with returnees from abroad within the last 14 days,
  • you have had contact with persons infected with the Corona virus within the last 14 days
  • and if you are a suspect case and the test result is not yet available.

Other facilities and university sports
The Studentenwerk Halle offers a to-go service in the Harz- and in the Weinbergmensa. The refectories at Neuwerk and the Unterburg will remain closed.

University sports activities organised in cooperation with the MLU or carried out by the BURG itself will be discontinued.

According to a decree of the Ministry of the Interior and Sports of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, the further training courses of Education Institute of the State of Saxony-Anhalt are also suspended until further notice.
