Information on handling the corona virus at the BURG

The winter semester 2020/21 was carried out as a hybrid semester until mid-December. However, due to new regulations, BURG will hold all courses digitally from January 11, 2021, until extended to February 12, 2021. Students will continue to have access to the campus for urgent work at the workstations, in the studios, and by arrangement in the workshops.

+++ Current changes will be published here continuously +++

(Status: 08.01.21) Please note these following important and recent changes:

  • From Monday, January 11, 2021, the BURG will in principle open the university to students for works, urgently needed, at the workstations, in the studios, and by arrangement in the workshops. There is no attendance requirement. Students may work on site, but are not required to.
  • Teaching in classrooms does not take place. All courses will take place exclusively digitally, this applies to the entire period from Monday, January 11, 2021, until extended to Friday, February 12, 2021.
  • Final exams (diploma, master's, bachelor's, state exams) scheduled for late January or early February will be held by arrangement. There will be another exam week at the end of March, this should be prioritized if possible. Exact dates will be set in January.
  • Departmental workshops open to students for mandatory work. Priority will be given to students who are graduating in the current semester. Students are assigned to the workshops by their courses/fields of study and by their professors.
  • The Central Workshops and the Print Shop are only open to students who are graduating in the winter semester.
  • The library will remain open with the following hours for members of university: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 4 pm
  • Teachers and employees of the administration will also move to the home office between Monday, January 11, 2021 and Friday, February 12, 2021, if possible.
  • Masks are still required throughout the campus and in all properties. New: University employees who are exempt from wearing a mask by medical certificate are no longer allowed to enter the university grounds.
  • The canteen at the Unterburg and on Campus Design are closed until further notice due to the pandemic. The "Konsum" on Campus Design opens with a small to-go offer.
  • From now on, all meals must be taken outside. At the fixed workplaces, it is only permitted to take small snacks and drinks, provided that the distance requirement can be observed.

General hygiene and distance rules
Campus access and student works in studios and workshops can only be realized if we adhere to the distance rules and war mouth-nose cover. Everyone should wash their hands regularly or use disinfectant dispensers. In teaching rooms and outside there is an obligation to wear your mouth-and-nose cover, please follow the signs on site. Further information as well as exceptions can be found in the general decree (in German language, if you need the decree in another language please contact corona-post(at)burg-halle.de). New is that university members who are exempt from wearing a mask by medical certificate are not allowed to enter the university premises for their own safety. Please also make sure that rooms are ventilated regularly: meeting rooms and the like three times per hour, individual offices should be ventilated once per hour.

Entry from abroad
If you have been abroad and would like to enter the grounds of the BURG, please contact corona-post(at)burg-halle.de in advance. It will be checked as soon as possible whether you receive an access permit. The same applies if you have had closer contact (15 minutes or longer) with people who have returned from abroad.

Mouth and nose cover
A mouth-nose cover must be worn on campus grounds as well as inside. Please also follow the signs on site.

Contact data sheets
When entering the university, the contact data sheets must always be filled out. In addition to the printed contact data sheets (available as pdf or printed out on site), contact data can be entered digitally. When a student stays in a room, the QR code can be scanned with the smartphone and thus the presence is recorded. When two people meet, the encounter can be recorded by scanning the personal QR code on one person's smartphone using the smartphone of the other person. The QR codes contain links to www.burg-halle.de/kde, where one can log in with the Burg access data or, if necessary, register oneself. Further information can be found in German lanuage at https://www.burg-halle.de/kde/anleitung.

Excursions and business trips
Excursions and business trips within Germany as well as within the Schengen area can be carried out again in the winter semester 2020/21, as long as they do not lead into a risk area. Business trips and excursions to other regions worldwide are only possible in exceptional cases after approval by the Rector or the Chancellor.

Use and access of workshops, workstations and studios
The studios and workshops are open in the new semester. However, the spatial resources remain limited, as only a limited number of people can be admitted to the rooms to prevent infection.
From October 1, access to the central workshops will be via an electronic card system. A maximum of 20 persons can be in the building at one time (6 persons each in the Wood, Metal and Plastics Workshop, 2 in the Digital Workshop). The cards are located outside in the entrance area and are color-coded according to the workshops. The cards should be worn in a clearly visible way and are put back on their own after completion of the work. A change of workshop is only possible if the cards are available.
For project work, additional space will be available in a container facility. There is a general obligation to cover your mouth and nose, you must bring your own work protection equipment. The workshop opening hours will probably be extended from 16 October from 7:30am to 1:00 p.m and from 2:00 p.m to 6:30 p.m.

Since November 2020 events and exhibitions unfortunately cannot be carried out on site.
