The International Office at BURG focuses on organizing exchange opportunities for students within the framework of our international university partnerships. On our website, you will find all the relevant information you need to successfully plan a semester or internship abroad.

In addition to mutual exchange, the International Office also manages our university partnerships and international networks. Its tasks also include the acquisition and awarding of Erasmus+, PROMOS, and STIBET scholarships (for international full-time students) as well as the awarding of the prestigious DAAD prize.

BURG students who are interested in a semester abroad can find all the relevant information under “Outgoing.” Students from our partner universities can find all the information they need on how to apply for a semester at BURG under “Incoming.”

Overview

The university promotes exchange and maintains contacts with numerous art and design colleges around the world. The course is supplemented by subject-specific collaboration with partners from the worlds of culture and business, as well as private and public institutions. Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle is involved in various international networks. As part of the ERASMUS program, Burg has cooperation agreements with a large number of partner schools in almost all European countries.

Cumulus-Verbund

Since 2005, Burg has been a partner in the Cumulus Association, a network of art and design universities. The aim is to create a dynamic and flexible academic forum that connects the best international educational institutions.

ELIA

Burg is a member of ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), Europe's leading multidisciplinary network in higher arts education and research.

International Cooperation beyond Europe

Burg also cooperates directly with art colleges outside Europe, for example in Japan, South Korea, Mexico, and Georgia. You can find a current list here.

Students at Burg can take advantage of the courses offered by the Language Center and participate in the placement tests at Martin Luther University. If you have any questions, please contact the Language Center directly.
