Gebühren und Kosten

Studying at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle is free of charge. This applies up to the first professional qualification (Bachelor's degree) and for studies in a subsequent consecutive degree programme (Master's degree) leading to a further professional qualification. Studies in the Department of Art leading to the “Diplom” and state examination degrees are also free of charge.

Semester fee

The semester fee for the winter semester 2022/23 and the summer semester 2023 is 248.40 EUR and consists of the general semester fee (80 EUR), the fee for the semester ticket (160.40 EUR) and the student body fee (8 EUR). The semester fee is paid by direct debit when you re-register. A signed basic direct debit mandate is required for this.

A waiver of payment is possible in the case of severe disability (semester ticket fee) or leave of absence in due time (entire semester fee).

Semester ticket

Since the winter semester 2017/18, Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle has been offering a semester ticket that applies to all students and is obligatory. With it, students can use the S-Bahn, train, tram and bus in the entire MDV area around the clock. The student ID card serves as the ticket.

Long-term tuition fees

Following an amendment to the Higher Education Act of Saxony-Anhalt, long-term tuition fees will no longer be charged from the winter semester 2020/21.
