SPRINT: Corn Urn

The degradable choice

Most urns are not biodegradable under natural conditions, even though that is exactly what they are supposed to do. We wanted to change that with this project. We conducted some material experiments to utilize the particle foam process with alternative materials: Casein glue mixed with puffed corn, rice, quinoa, spelt, as well as millet.
When designing the urn, it was particularly important to us to find an elegant and dignified form, as an urn is the last thing the deceased person comes into contact with.
