The student exhibition space BURG2 sees itself as an experimental space for students of art and design at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle and offers a platform for a wide range of exhibition formats that move between the most diverse disciplines of students' artistic practice. Whether performative, discursive, in the form of a classical exhibition or involving the display window area, BURG2 offers the opportunity to make one's own work accessible to the public in a corner room with two large window fronts.
The focus here is on the openness of the place for forms of expression and concepts and the promotion of new ideas. Emerging from the intersection of disciplines, the project is led by a volunteer team of art and design students and master's students in art studies. In a biannual open call, students from all fields of study can apply with a planned or completed project for an exhibition period of three weeks. Ideas of the applicants are curated and supported from the idea to the realization.
In addition to exhibitions, events, workshops and lectures take place at BURG2. The BURG2 team is also involved in the annual Silbersalz Festival in Halle.
Located directly at the Burg Giebichenstein streetcar stop in Burgstraße, the gallery is ideally located within walking distance between the art and design campuses and can be visited during opening hours in addition to public vernissages and events.
