Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle declares its solidarity with Ukraine. We strongly protest against the aggressive and violent form of Putin's Russian policy and call for an immediate end to the war.
We at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle are deeply appalled by the war in Ukraine. The Russian attack represents a blatant violation of international law. We condemn the violent and aggressive form of Putin's Russian policy and our thoughts and feelings are with all those whose lives are now threatened. Our solidarity is with the entire Ukrainian population. But it also goes to the Russians who stand up for democratic and liberal values.
We are very concerned about the lives and well-being of the people in Ukraine and the artists, designers, scientists and students living there. We stand in solidarity with those who are oppressed and persecuted by the imperialist dictatorship of Moscow. Against the background of Russia's despicable war of aggression against Ukraine, we see ourselves forced to suspend our cooperation with Russian art academies for the time being.
The German Rectors' Conference and the Rectors' Conference of German Art Universities (RKK) also condemn Russia's attack on Ukraine. The statement of the RKK can be found here.
+++ The BURG has compiled an overview of various offers of help and of possibilities to join our art academy for students and teachers who have fled from Ukraine. Also included is an overview of support opportunities, which will be updated on an ongoing basis.
